[VRChat/Quest/Blender/FBX] Running Baby Barn Owl – Animated

This model is a baby barn owl, currently beloved as an internet meme.
It hops around in VRChat alongside your avatar.
You can place it in front, behind, or beside your avatar to enjoy strolling together.

Features

Setting up is easy (detailed instructions below).
The owl is about 40 cm tall, but you can adjust its position and size in Unity to match your avatar.

Animations

• The barn owl hops around as it runs.
• It also blinks.

Technical Details

• Shader Used: lilToon (Not required for the lightweight Quest model)
• Created in Blender 4.3.2, tested in Unity (2022.3.22f1) and VRChat (desktop mode)

Quest Version (Added on Mar 7)

• A lightweight model for Quest has been included.
• It has been tested on Unity’s Android platform. If you encounter any issues in VRChat, please let us know.

Setup Instructions

1. Import lilToon and your avatar into your Unity project (lilToon is not required for the Quest version).
2. Import the .unitypackage file from this folder (For Quest, use the .unitypackage inside the Quest folder).
3. Drag the prefab into the Hierarchy.
4. Adjust the position and size to match your avatar (see images).
5. In the Hierarchy, drag it under the avatar’s Armature (see images).
6. Upload it using VRChat SDK like a regular avatar.
   • If you see warnings during the build, click Auto Fix.
